    The Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act, signed into law March 27th

    The bill sets four main objectives:

    • Provide emergency cash to individuals and their families.
    • Deliver fast and significant relief to small businesses.
    • Help stabilize the economy and curb layoffs.
    • Rush resources to frontline health care workers.

    Speaker:  Jim Nys, Founder/Sr. HR Consultant - Westaff of Helena
    Nys has 40 years experience in the HR profession. He has been self employed since 1987 as a private consultant and specializes in the ever changing legislative HR issues. He is known for providing assistance in Personnel Policy Development, helping clients address day to day HR issues related to wage and hour, disabilities, poor performance or discrimination issues. He also instructs classes in HR or management related topics for a wide variety of businesses throughout the intermountain west.

    He has served on several national professional leadership positions with the Society for Human Resource Management including their Legislative Action Committee, the SHRM Research Committee, and the SHRM special expertise committee. He served as the Montana State Council of SHRM Legislative Chair for 25 years. Nys holds a Masters degree from the University of Montana and is certified as a "Senior Professional in Human Resources" by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and a Certified Staffing Professional by the American Staffing Association. He also holds a Masters in Public Administration degree. He has been recognized as the Helena Small Business of the Year (2010), the NFIB Small Business Champion (2012) and the Helena Chamber of Commerce's Business Person of the Year (2014).
